-- The journey --

I arrived in Oxford after the pandemic, not expecting the shift to feel so disorienting. Integrating into a new city took time - more than I thought - and I found myself navigating unfamiliar ground, obviously around me but mainly within. I became extremely disconnected from myself, and I slowly came to understand the build up of emotions, the disconnection from purpose or even the ways anxiety had taken over most of my everyday experiences.
Returning to my yoga practice then became the anchor. I started again where I was, from the very beginning, at home, on the mat. Gradually I found bits of myself again, so I stepped out of the comfort zone into a shared space, where I found Everybody Studio. It very quickly became a second home and I kind of found refuge there to take my practice to a complete unexpected level - I shared powerful practices with people, myself, many inspirational and challenging conversations, got motivated and supported by an amazing teacher to go get what I wanted.
I went on to complete my teacher training, no fancy travel or tropical island, instead an unexpectedly demanding, humbling and expansive process, which stretched me in ways I couldn't have prepared for. It clarified how I wanted to grow and what I wanted to share with people.
With the help of a few incredible people, PAUSE classes at the pub came to life. A few faces tagged along, kept showing up, brought their motivation, their stories, their trust. Their presence shaped the space more than anything I could have planned, and without pushing the community appeared and formed a home. Eventually, opportunities came up for a dedicated space early 2025. So I let the rest of the journey carry me and, here we are, rooted in New Hinksey. This all became the foundation of how I teach now - finding/creating space where you can tune in, where awareness and learning can grow, where you can meet yourself honestly and build the internal steadiness that carries out of the mat: because the real practice happens in conversations, in reactions, and in the way we relate to others.
Our studio is a profound mirror of all this: from the most obvious detail to the most discrete one, the environment, atmosphere, class offering, and intimacy.
All of us teachers are still students and still learning. How energy, movement, stillness, scents and sound can support that process. We will keep sharing openly and with generosity, because we believe these tools should be accessible, practical, and offered with care, to keep supporting what's already reachable within every single one of us.
I am extremely lucky to consider this my full time job, and every single one of you who take the time to speak with me, to come to the studio and share your stories, are making it even more special every time.
Thank you for allowing me and us to guide you.
See you soon I hope,
Romi ꩜
